Bishop Burton Village Hall presents Everest a 2015 survival film directed by Baltasar Kormákur and written by William Nicholson and Simon Beaufoy. The film stars are Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Robin Wright, Michael Kelly, Sam Worthington, Keira Knightley, Emily Watson, and Jake Gyllenhaal. Everest documents the awe-inspiring journey of two different expeditions challenged beyond their limits by one the fiercest snowstorms ever encountered by mankind. The climbers face nearly impossible obstacles as a lifelong obsession becomes a breath-taking struggle for survival.

The film opened the 72nd Venice International Film Festival on September 2, 2015, and was released theatrically on September 18, 2015. It is based on the real events of the 1996 Mount Everest disaster, and focuses on the survival attempts of the two expedition groups. The film received positive reviews from critics and has grossed over $202 million.
