Beauty and the Beast Pantomime

Once again, our grateful thanks to Mike Lund, Writer & Director extraordinaire for this year’s panto. Thanks too to all the cast for their enthusiasm and wonderful ability to entertain. Special thank yous to Robin Douthwaite, Stage Manager, Nickie Hoddinott, Secretary, Simon Cherry, Sound and Paul Hayward for transportation. Costumes were mainly hired from Dress Circle of York, but some of the more risky Pansy & Petal outfits, were made in house!

This year you may have noticed that we had new wing curtains, which were acquired and altered by Charleyne Wright; they make the stage look very professional and also enhance the cinema nights.

In addition, we were finally able to install the new lighting, which had been purchased at auction 18 months ago. Unfortunately, the installation cost was prohibitive for the Village Hall Committee to fund, being close to £2,000. So with a big help from members of the cast who made personal loans and donations of £500 each from both the Village Hall Committee and Events Group, we were able to proceed. An agreement with both groups means that after the monies raised by raffles at panto (£225), are deducted from the total loaned by cast members of £935.78, that VHC and Events Group will each pay back £355.39 to the Lighting Fund and then to the cast members who provided loans of £63 x 15 members. Thank you all for making this happen.

Panto made a small profit this year, thanks to the more realistic ticket price and the balance will go towards paying back the Events Group contribution to the Lighting Fund.
