Twenty one members of the golf society ventured across the Humber Bridge to play the Normanby Hall course on Thursday 11th October 2012. It's a very pleasant parkland course with gentle slopes and well-protected greens bordered by a few wind turbines. The weather was fine although rain threatened towards the end.

The ladies competition was won by Chris Stocks who managed to hold off a strong challenge from Lynn Middleton in spite of a heavy cold. The men's competition was won by a visitor from the US Tour, John Ferguson, who had a splendid 37 Stableford points playing off a handicap of 20 (not for long!). His 22 points on the back 9 included a 2 and a birdie for 4 points on the final hole. Wow! In a distant 2nd place was Bryn Jones with 32 points.

Rodger Middleton won the nearest the pin competition on the 16th hole. In fact, he was the only one to hit the green but don't tell anyone as it's a bit embarrassing for the rest of us.

The prizes were awarded in the Altisidora where the society members and their supporters met for a splendid meal and one or two glasses of celebratory liquid. Many thanks to Rob Douthwaite for organising such a grand day out. The next meeting is provisionally booked for May 9th 2013.
