It is with great sadness that we have learnt of the death of Shelagh Reynolds. Shelagh and Martin Reynolds came to Bishop Burton in 1986 and lived at Knights Cottage on Callas. Their two daughters Abigail and Emily were soon to go to University. For twenty years the Reynolds enjoyed the friendship and activities which are a feature of village life. Shelagh became the chairman of the Yorkshire Countrywomens Association in its early days and deftly steered the association in the right direction.

Sadly late in 2005 Shelagh was diagnosed with a progressive lung condition which was to make living in the village difficult. They moved to Beverley where Shelagh could be seen driving along in her mobility scooter to the shops etc. always determined to maintain some independence. But after several hospital admissions in the last few years she died peacefully in Castle Hill on Sunday 22nd August.

To Martin and the girls we send our deepest sympathy. There is to be a Celebration and Thanksgiving Service on Monday 6th September at 2.30pm at St. John Newland Church, Clough Road, Hull. Donations to Tear Fund. Further details on the Parish Noticeboard outside the shop
