The Village Hall

The Village Hall is open for permitted activities from the 13th July. To enable this to happen much work has taken place behind the scenes to make the Hall COVID-19 secure for those activities that are permitted. New rules and regulations have been put in place and limits on the numbers able to use the hall.

No sports activities are currently permitted. However, the government last night announced that gyms can open from the 25th July. The Village Hall Committee awaits further guidance in this regard and will review once received. I will update you once the guidance is received as to permitted activities.

In line with the above dates the Village Hall Committee requests all cars without permits that are currently using the Village Hall car park to please remove their cars by the 13th July. Your co-operation in this matter is much appreciated.

Bookings are being taken for future dates, conditional on the booking being permitted under the guidance at the time it takes place. If you are interested in hiring the hall please call Jan on 552364.

The children's playground will reopen on Saturday 1st August. This will give time for the new turf and seeded areas to take hold. New conditions of use will be displayed once open. The Parish Council requests your help in adhering to these to help prevent the spread of the virus.

Childrens drawing challenge

Paul at the Altisidora is hoping to turn his pub into a large “Thank-you” to all those who are helping everyone get through this crisis.  To do this he is calling on the children of the village to produce posters of any size and shape that he can put them up in the windows of the pub and on the large advertising board he has near the car park.  As a starter for 10 he has sent me some ideas – see ideas for posters attached.  You don’t need to use these if you fancy doing something else.  Please put your completed posters through his door.  He lives in the house attached to the pub, so it is the door on the right hand side as you look at the Altis – just put it through his postbox and he will put it in the windows of the pub to say Thanks to all those who are helping to get us through this.

Scam emails and fraudsters

The crisis may prove to be an opportunity for criminals to send emails that are designed to trick you into revealing information that should be kept secret or into downloading damaging or undesirable material to your computer. If you are not sure about a particular item - delete it. If you need some assistance over the phone contact Bryn Jones on 0785 2325179. I can't guarantee an answer and I can't do home visits, for obvious reasons!

If you want to use a period of self-isolation to develop your understanding of how scams should be guarded against, this Which article is a good starting place: I've also attached the Victim Support leaflet that was included in the May 2020 edition of the BB News.
